About the event
Heart & Soil Community will be leading family groups at Langdon Garden to delve into the world of home based Vermicomposting - where worms are used to help break down our uncooked food waste, turning it into nutritious and useful poop (or ‘castings’, if you’d prefer) which can be used to feed your plants. Families will construct their own wormeries out of entirely recycled materials, make them cosy with special bedding, before adding their new pet worms and learning all about how to keep them happy and healthy.
This is a fun and accessible way to start a conversation around dealing with kitchen waste, repurposing items that might otherwise be thrown away, and the concept of composting in general, all through the lens of the fascinating worm.
The workshops will cost £10 per family, last for 1.5hrs and light refreshments will be included. Each family will leave with their new home for their new worms, and all the information they need to look after them.
